Dr. Patricia Gutiérrez Ontalvilla is a specialist in Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus and the author of Liquenia Treatment

 

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Navarra with honors (1998), she specialized in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery at the Hospital La Fe in Valencia (1999 – 2004) and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Milan in 2002.

In 2016 she attended a lecture on vulvar lichen sclerosus by Dr. Casabona and it was her starting point to study this disease in depth.

She wasso committed to it that, in 2017, through the Research Institute of the Hospital Universitario La Fe in Valencia, she launched Liquenia: the first clinical trial in Spain on the use of stem cells derived from own fat and platelet-rich plasma in patients with moderate-to-severe involvement of vulvar lichen sclerosus who had not responded to ultrapotent corticosteroids.

 

This research was the basis of his doctoral thesis (Excellent Cum Laude) in 2020, for which he also obtained the Extraordinary Doctoral Award 2021/2022 from the University of Valencia.

 

The study concluded with excellent results that clinically demonstrated that Liquenia® Treatment is nowadays an excellent alternative to the current treatment with corticosteroids as it improves all the lesions, signs and symptoms of VLS.
