About us: the team behind Liquenia® Treatment
Liquenia® uses autologous nanofat and stromal vascular fraction (SVF) — two fractions of the patient's own adipose tissue — to treat vulvar tissue affected by VLS. Developed by Dr. Patricia Gutiérrez Ontalvilla. Backed by published clinical research.
Nixarian Institute: who we are
Nixarian Institute SL is the medical clinic where we develop and provide Liquenia® Treatment for vulvar lichen sclerosus. It is located in Valencia and treats patients from across Spain and abroad.
We specialise in vulvar pathology—we are not a general clinic that also treats VLS; we are a team built around this specialty. This has a real impact on the quality of care: from the first appointment to the 12-month follow-up, every team member has an in-depth understanding of the condition, its impact on patients’ lives, and the clinical protocol.
Since 2004, we have cared for women who arrive after years of symptoms without a correct diagnosis, with treatments that do not work, or with questions about their options. This has given us a clinical perspective that goes beyond the protocol: we understand what it means to live with VLS and what it means to finally find an answer.
Dr Patricia Gutiérrez Ontalvilla
Plastic surgeon and scientific researcher. Scientific Director of Nixarian Institute and President of the Nixarian Foundation. Specialised in female intimate surgery and vulvar pathology since 2004.
She is the author of Liquenia® Treatment—a protocol that was not born from intuition, but from years of systematic clinical research initiated in 2017 in collaboration with La Fe University Hospital and the La Fe Health Research Institute in Valencia. The results of this research have been published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.
She is also the author of the first book in Spanish devoted entirely to vulvar lichen sclerosus: *”I Have Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus. Now What Do I Do?
The team
We work with a team of women healthcare professionals—doctors, nurses, and administrative staff—who share the commitment to providing care that combines scientific rigour with the human warmth every patient deserves.
We understand that VLS is an intimate condition, that in many cases comes after years of suffering, and that the first visit can be difficult. That is why, from the very first contact—whether by phone, email, or in consultation—the team is focused on ensuring the patient feels heard, informed, and supported.
Beyond the clinic
The work of Nixarian Institute is part of a broader ecosystem dedicated to the wellbeing of women with vulvar conditions:
