Scientific evidence of the Liquenia® Treatment for vulvar lichen sclerosus

The Liquenia® Treatment was not born from clinical intuition or a therapeutic promise. It was born from a systematic research program, with defined methodology, protocolized follow-up, and results published in peer-reviewed international scientific journals.

WHY EVIDENCE MATTERS IN YMYL

Why scientific evidence is not optional in medicine

In medicine, and especially in the field of chronic diseases, the difference between a legitimate therapeutic option and an unfounded promise lies in the evidence. Scientific evidence—obtained through rigorous clinical research, published in peer-reviewed journals, and evaluated by the scientific community—is the standard that protects patients from ineffective or harmful interventions.

As a researcher, I understand that standard from within. That is why the research program that gave rise to the Liquenia® Treatment was designed from the outset to meet it: with defined inclusion and exclusion criteria, validated measurement instruments, protocolized follow-up, and publication of results—including those that are less favorable.

This page presents the available evidence on the Liquenia® Treatment. It is not a marketing catalog—it is scientific documentation.

THE RESEARCH PROGRAM

The path from research to clinical protocol

The research program that gave rise to the Liquenia® Treatment was initiated in 2017 in collaboration with the La Fe University Hospital in Valencia and the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe). Its initial objective was to evaluate whether the combination of nanofat and autologous biological agents could produce clinical and tissue improvement in patients with vulvar lichen sclerosus. The protocol evolved throughout the program until reaching the current Liquenia-SVF Protocol, based on nanofat and stromal vascular fraction (SVF).

The study design incorporated:

> Clinically defined candidacy criteria

> Symptom assessment using validated scales

> Protocolized clinical examination at each follow-up visit

> Comparative biopsy at 3 months post-procedure

> 12-month follow-up

The program results were published in two leading international scientific journals:

Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (2021)

The Effect of Lipofilling and Platelet-Rich Plasma on Patients with Moderate–Severe Vulvar Lichen Sclerosus
Gutiérrez-Ontalvilla P. et al. · DOI: 10.1007/s00266-021-02718-1

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION

From clinical trial to international guideline

In 2025, the Liquenia-SVF protocol was included in the Clinical Practice Guideline of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) for the management of vulvar lichen sclerosus.

This inclusion represents formal recognition by an international expert committee that the Liquenia® protocol meets the methodological and clinical criteria necessary to be included in clinical practice recommendations worldwide. It is not a commercial endorsement—it is an independent scientific evaluation.
